Children’s Grief Center Founder and Executive Director Takes New Position

For nearly a decade, Founder and Executive Director Camille Gerace Nitschky, has built the Children’s Grief Center of the Great Lakes Bay Region (CGC) into a nationally recognized nonprofit providing a healing environment through peer support for children, teens, and their families grieving a death in the Great Lakes Bay region. Through Camille’s leadership, ability to “trust the process”, and authentically connect with others, Camille successfully took a spark of an idea and made it into a reality.

Under Camille’s leadership, CGC now has locations in Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland and has served countless families throughout the region. The Grief Center also successfully partners with area University intern programs, has a strong volunteer program, and diverse donor-funder relationships. Camille has worked tirelessly offering educational presentations and volunteer trainings to raise awareness and discussion about grief. Due to her efforts, the region is full of individuals who have the ability to facilitate and talk about grief and death. She is always quick to mention her efforts would have been in vain had she not had her incredible staff and the many board members over the years who were part of the CGC team. Ultimately it is the children and families that had the courage to come and do their “grief work” that created the CGC’s atmosphere of love and healing.

Camille’s personal mission in life, “to inspire others and create a space for people to express their authentic selves, especially through creativity” is about to ignite another spark close to her heart. With CGC solid in its mission to serve, Founder Camille Gerace -Nitschky has announced she is going to return to developing and building Angelheart Studios, which she set aside in her call to create CGC. Angelheart Studio, a holistic wellness center, will once again have Camille practicing massage and energy work, Reiki, art journaling workshops, yoga and anything that empowers the human spirit.

Plans to celebrate Camille and her service to CGC are shaping and will include a community celebration at the Children’s Grief Center. All those who have been touched in some way by the Children’s Grief Center are invited to attend the celebration and join in wishing CGC Founder Camille Gerace Nitschky well as she focuses her passion and energy into making Angelheart Studios soar. She will always be an advocate and champion for the CGC, and it will always be near and dear to her heart.
