The Children’s Grief Center of the Great Lakes Bay Region is excited to introduce Chris Sabourin as the Executive Director of the Children’s Grief Center of the Great Lakes Bay Region.

The Children’s Grief Center of the Great Lakes Bay Region was founded in 2014 with the mission to provide a healing environment through peer support for children, teens, and their families grieving a death.

Our Vision is to continue to expand awareness about the impact of grief and each individual’s ability to build resilience, strength, and hope by acknowledging and working through grief. Through this creative process, we advocate, we educate, we facilitate, we connect, and we thrive.

Chris is ingrained and active in the Midland community, where he lives with his wife Amy and their daughters, Camdyn and Macy. The H.H. Dow Graduate attended Central Michigan University before pursuing Master’s degrees in Education at Saginaw Valley State University and Eastern Michigan University. For over 25 years, Sabourin has served Midland Public Schools in the classroom and at the administrative level. In 2004, Chris founded MidMichigan Impact, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization focused on teaching young people to become strong, disciplined, and collaborative through competitive music performance experience.

I am thrilled to be part of the team at the Children’s Grief Center and am passionate about the work being done supporting children and families. I plan to continue the growth of our organization so programs are in place for all children experiencing grief, as well as to promote healthy and strong communities throughout our region.”

The Children’s Grief Center will continue to serve grieving families in Great Lakes Bay Region at our Bay City, Saginaw, and Midland locations this coming fall. If you or someone you know would like to be part of the Children’s Grief Center, please check us out at www.childrensgriefglbr.org.
